When tragedy strikes, it can be difficult to know where to look to find current updates, resources, and trustworthy information. Here is some information that can help you to know if your home has been affected, if your loved ones are safe, and to guide you to resources such as clothing distribution centers and even legal help.
1. Damage reports and detailed structure status
If you or a loved one has property in Paradise, the Camp Fire Structure Status is an amazing website that shows you pictures of thousands of homes and helps residents to know the level of damage to their house.
Click on the above link, click and okay the terms and conditions, and then you’ll see a map of Paradise. Type in your address and the map will zoom in to that specific property. Click on “attachments” and you’ll see the current condition.
The site is also color coded with green meaning that there is less than 9% damage to red meaning that the structure is more than 50% damaged.
2. Local perspective, missing person updates, air quality warnings
Many of Paradise’s residents have been displaced to friends’ and relatives’ homes across the state but still want the local news to get the real story. Paradise Post is doing a great job of staying on top of the story with missing person updates, air quality warnings, and telling the stories of local people.
3. Volunteers, donations, and general support
While social media doesn’t always have the best reputation, this is one great way that it’s helping a ton of people to share information and maintain a sense of community. On this Facebook community, you’ll find free sifters to go through charred property, advice on donating or receiving donations from distribution centers, and updates for neighborhoods whose status hasn’t yet been put in the Camp Fire Structure Status database.
4. Knowledgeable, compassionate legal representation
Insurance forms, filing a claim against PG&E, and knowing if you’re getting a fair pay-out is so confusing. It’s also hard to know who to trust. Fortunately, Periscope Group can help you find legal representation that is knowledgeable, compassionate, and trustworthy.
